Over an eight-year span, I designed, project managed, and engineered QuikQuote — Grasshopper Mowers’ internal quoting and ordering system.

The challenge

Grasshopper needed a faster, more reliable way for dealers to generate sales quotes, manage customer information, and streamline order processing.

My role

  • Designed and maintained the relational database schema powering the platform.
  • Architected and engineered the quoting engine, handling sophisticated pricing algorithms and error-checking logic.
  • Deployed and maintained the application across environments.
  • Designed and refined the user interface to prioritize clarity and speed.
  • Led communication and project management, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with business needs.

What began as a small checkbox-driven form grew into a robust platform featuring:

Connected directly to warehouse ordering for streamlined fulfillment.

Behind the scenes, I also built a custom CMS to house all of the pricing rules, programs, financing logic, and order flows. This gave Grasshopper the ability to manage and update the system themselves without developer intervention, ensuring long-term flexibility and control.

Impact

The system transformed dealer operations, dramatically improving accuracy, efficiency, and customer experience. It became a critical internal tool, relied on daily by the nationwide dealer network, and its custom CMS reduced long-term development costs by empowering staff to maintain pricing rules, programs, and workflows internally.
